Are you using a regular digital thickness gauge and having problems getting accurate or reliable readings?  Or any readings at all?  

Are you trying to measure coarse-grain materials (e.g. cast iron), Aluminum, small diameter pipes, super thin sheet, super thick plate, rough surfaces, non-uniform inner surfaces? Conditions that ordinary Thickness Gauges cannot test.
