Why - Bulb, Fluorescent, LED or Green Light?  

Why Bulb - Conventional lamps can offer very high brightness but produce a lot of heat. They are reliable, bulbs are readily available, easy and inexpensive to change. Require high wattage bulbs and not very efficient or eco friendly. Generally larger design and most suitable for large darkrooms.

Why Fluorescent - Bright and produce less heat, long lasting, easy and in expensive to Lamps. They require lower wattage lamps and are eco friendly. Generally small more compact design and light weight. Ideal for small / mobile darkrooms.

Why LED - Very bright and produce less heat, long lasting, easy but can be expensive to replace LED's. They require lower wattage lamps and are eco friendly. Generally small more compact design and light weight. Ideal for small / mobile darkrooms.

Why Green Light? - The illuminators use either fluorescent to LED to produce green light with a narrow wavelength 550nm which is the maximum sensitivity of the human eye so when comparing equal intensity of green and white light, the green appears brighter. This has the benefit of making the radiographs easier to view.
